Our high schools continue in high gear

If you went to the Saints game Monday night, you may have a hard time hearing for the rest of the week. The decibels were really ringing there.

And so it has been throughout the football season here in St. Charles Parish where our two high schools once again did great jobs in stirring up the pigskin fever. We are fortunate to have Hahnville and Destrehan in our midst to keep us excited throughout the season.

Hahnville did an especially good job this year in almost achieving the state championship.  If it could have defeated Rummel, a great team, it could well be on its way to the Superdome and the big game on Dec. 12.

Destrehan did well also though it did not quite repeat its championship conquests of other recent years. It has built itself into one of the biggest contenders in the state.

The season is all over for the two local schools this year but they have kept the interest up among fans for future years.

The people of St. Charles should be happy to have such polished athletic programs as well as academic excellence at their two high schools. They help to build a citizenship that is well educated and has a lot of fun in the process.
