Battle for the Paddle helps good causes

Today is one of the fun days of the year in St. Charles Parish. The annual Battle for the Paddle will be held from 4 to 7:30 p. m. at West Bank Bridge Park in Luling. It is one of the big fundraisers of the year for United Way. And it provides plenty of good food at a reasonable price – – only $5 for all you can eat.

Teams of up to four persons will compete in serving up the tastiest jambalaya and gumbo. And each year, the recipes seem to get more delicious.

Live music will be provided by “Reese” to keep foots a-tapping. And it will be a great time to socialize with your friends in the parish. Gather them up and head for the bridge park this afternoon. It’s a great way to help a good cause.

United Way does a lot for our community throughout the year. It contributes to many good causes and helps those in need.

It unifies efforts in the parish to help bring the good life to everyone. It deserves our support.

And this is one time we can all help the organization accomplish its purpose.

Yum!
