Leona Madere Walker, 83, a native of Hahnville and a resident of Luling, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 17.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Luling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday with burial to follow in St. Charles Cemetery.
Walker is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jerry J. Walker Sr.; son, Jerry J. Walker Jr. and wife April; daughter, Elizabeth Schmauss (Keith); grandchildren, Derek and Taylor Walker, David, Vicky, Mary, Clair, Emily and Autumn Schmauss and brother, Nolan “Pete” Madere.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emile Madere Sr. and Rena Kinler Madere; brothers, Fred, Emile Jr., Robert “Bob”, Harold, Eddie Madere and sister Evelyn Hart.Walker was a member of the Ladies Altar Society of St. Anthony and past member of St. Vincent de Paul.
In lieu of flowers donations to St. Anthony Catholic Church preferred.
