Roland “Pops” Oubre

Roland “Pops” Oubre died at home surrounded by his family on February 19, 2023 at the age of 83.  He was born January 5, 1940 and was a lifelong resident of Hahnville, LA.

He is preceded in death by his parents Charles Oubre, Sr. and Felicie Keller Oubre, and his siblings Charles Oubre, Jr., Gail Oubre, Felicie “Susie” Oubre, Sandra Oubre, and Gerard Oubre.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 58 years, Janet Amedee Oubre, children, Brian Oubre (Vinca), Julie Gaubert (Roth), Lauren Bosco (Ricky), Brad Oubre (Evelyn), and grandchildren, Roth, Jr., Colin (Heather), Evan, Jonathan, Daniel, Stephanie, Leah, Jason, Marc, Vanessa, Andrew, and Marissa. He is also survived by his brother, Bernard Oubre (Linda), sisters-in-law, Carol Oubre and Kathy Wright, and brother-in-law, David Amedee (Katherine)

Roland graduated from Hahnville High School in 1958 and Southeastern University in 1962 where he played baseball. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2409, and the American Legion Post 131.

The family would like to sincerely thank all of those who assisted in his care.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville, LA. Visitation will be held from 10AM – 12PM with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 12PM with Father Paul Clark as celebrant and Father Bernard Francis as co-celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft, LA.
