Alan Perkins

A celebration of life service for Alan Perkins will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7 at the Des Allemands Mennonite Church at 17447 Old Spanish Trail in Des Allemands.

He passed away on Tuesday, July 29 in Gilmer, Texas.

Perkins was born on June 1, 1957, in New Orleans, to Whitney Bonvillian and Eva Vanacor Bonvillian. He lived in Des Allemands before moving to Gilmer about 3 years ago.

He was a pipe fitter for Avondale and a member of East Mountain Baptist Church in Upshur County. Perkins is survived by his daughter, Tonya Breaux of Gilmer; brother, Harris Perkins; grandchildren, Zachary Adams, Anthony Hopkins, Jacquelyn and Shane Hopkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Chookey and David Perkins and sister, Judy Cortez.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 P.M. at the church on Aug. 7.
