Haydel
Shirley Ann Negrotto Haydel, a native of New Orleans, LA, and a resident of Destrehan, LA, on Monday, March 20, 2006 in the afternoon in the presence of her family. She was 78 years old. Preceded in death by her devoted husband, Lester Joseph Haydel, Sr.; their daughter, Sandra Haydel Segrave-Tefarikis; her parents, Anna Shirley Passanante and Drebing A. Negrotto, Jr. and William J. Negrotto. Survived by her children: Leslie Haydel, wife of Francis J. Braud; son-in-law, Peter J. Tefarikis; Valerie Haydel, wife of Carlos J. Halder; Lester J. Haydel, Jr. and his wife, Paula Prudhomme; Dawn Haydel, wife of Christopher E. Higdon; Richard J. Haydel and his wife, Melanie Rodrigue, Anne Haydel, wife of David J. Landeche; Stacey Haydel, wife of Russ S. Keller; Michael C. Haydel and his wife Mary Schlorff; and her siblings: Eulalie Negrotto Montalto and John A. Negrotto. Also survived by 24 loving grandchilden and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation was at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Destrehan, LA. Entombment in St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum. HC Alexander Funeral Home of Norco in charge of arrangements.

Guss
Mazie C. Guss on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at St. Charles Hospital, Luling, LA. Daughter of the late Viola Dipamore and Eugene Cannon. Mother of Delores Guss. Sister of the late Eula Cannon Dillon. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Age 88 years. A native and resident of Killona, LA. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Canaan Baptist Church and all neighboring churches were invited to attend funeral services at Canaan Baptist Church in Killona, LA. Rev. Henry Wolfe, Jr., Pastor officiating. Interment Mt. Airy Memorial Park Cemetery, Boutte, LA. Serviced by Robottom.

Guss
Herman Guss, Jr. on Sunday, March 26, 2006 at St. Charles Hospital, Luling, LA. Son of the late Victoria Darensbourg and Herman Guss, Sr. Husband of Octavia Steib Guss. Father of Rodney J. (Jacquline) Guss of Hahnville, LA, Terry A. (Leotha) Guss of Lafeyette, LA, Janice M. Guss of LaPlace, LA, and Lysandra A. (J. Floyd) Johnson of Lafayette, LA, and the late Herman Guss, III. Brother of Richard and Lawrence Guss, Victoria Steib, Leona Lorio, Sonya Kemp, and Theresa Harris all of California, the late Victor Harney and Ulysess Guss. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Age 75 years. A native of Killona, LA and a resident of Hahnville, LA. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and all neighboring churches were invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Father Bernard Francis, Celebrant. Interment was at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Taft, LA. Serviced by Robottom.

Matherne
Samson A. Matherne, Jr., 78, a resident of Raceland, died at 1:40p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2006. Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 28, at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland. Mass was held at St. Mary Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 29, 2006. Burial was in church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Noella F. Matherne, two sisters, Edith M. Comardelle and Una M. Comardelle and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samson A. Matherne, Sr., Melina Matherne, his brother, Leo Matherne. He was a retired employee of Texaco for 31 years, a U.S. Army Veteran, a 4th degree Knights of Columbus, a member of the American Legion, Woodmen of the World, and a parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church. Falgout Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.
