Oglesby
Dale H. Oglesby, age 61, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2006. Beloved father of Deron, Jennifer, Ashley, and Jared Oglesby. Proud grandfather of Caleb Karling and Collin Oglesby. Brother of Darrell Oglesby. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman S. and Marie Barron Oglesby. A native of Verda, LA and a resident of Luling for many years. Mr. Oglesby was a retired Computer Process Engineer for Dow Chemical Company. Religious services were held at Verda Baptist Church with Rev. Roland Hebert and Rev. Douglas James officiating. Interment at Verda Cemetery, Verda, La.

Clanton
Deborah Tastet Clanton, on Friday, April 28, 2006 in Houston, Tx. Beloved wife of Daniel Layton Clanton. Mother of Daniel Paul Clanton. Daughter of Julia Nicholas Tastet and the late Earl J. Tastet. Sister of Earl “Pie” Tastet, Gary Tastet, Shelley Tastet, Jeanette Tassin, Natalie Giovingo, Stephanie Rester and the late Leroy Tastet and Ferris Tastet. also survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a great great niece. A native of Luling, La, and resident of Bay City, Tx, for 15 years. She was a member of Holy Cross Ladies Altar Society, Holy Cross Catholic Daughters and Bay City Band Boosters. Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend funeral services at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Luling, La., on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at 11 a.m. Interment St. Charles Cemetery, Luling, La. Vistitation was from 9 a.m. until funeral time. Falgout Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.

Champagne
“Some people leave a footprint on our hearts and we are never, ever the same.”
Funeral services were held on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 3 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Gus J. Champagne, age 97, who died at 9:30 p.m., Friday, April 28, 2006 at his daughter’s residence in Lafayette. Interment is in the St. Charles Cemetery in Luling, La. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at 1 p.m. Rev. Monsignor Charles Mallet was the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and conducted the Funeral Services. Survivors include hsi wife of thirty two years, Audrey O. Champagne of Lafayette and her five children; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Achille Charles and Adele Kinler Champagne; two sisters, and his first wife, May Harris Champagne. A native of Luling, La, and a resident of Lafayette since July of 2003. Mr. Champagne was veteran of military service, having served in the United States Army during WWII in the Army Corp of Engineers. Mr. Champagne was a former employee of the American Oil Company. He retired from the St. Charles Hospital as an administrator in 1974. He was a former Boy Scout leader and very active in and recieved many awards from the American Legion, VFW post #3750, Knights of Columbus, Council on Aging, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Rotary International, all being in St. Charles Parish. Mr. Champagne was an usher and parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Luling. The would would like to extend special appreciation to Hospice of Acadiana for the kindness and care offered during his time of need. Martin & Castille Funeral Home, Inc. of Lafayette was chosen to help with the arrangements.

Matis
Frank Paul Matis, Sr., on Sunday, April 30, 2006 at 2:18 p.m. in River Ridge, La. Beloved husband of Betty Adams Matis. Father of Frank Matis, Jr., Mary Lou, Lisa Rose, and Rita Catherine. Step father of Kimberly Trahan. Son of the late Salvadore and Annette Caillet Matis. Brother of Leeds Matis, Constance Matis and the late Flora Mae Valley and Rita Matis. Grandfather of Faith, Amy, Brent, Nathan, Katie, Catherine and 4 step grandchildren. Great grandfather of Seirra. A native and resident of Hahnville, La. Age 84 years. He was an active member of Carpentars lcoal 1846 of 65 years. Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend graveside serivces on May 3 at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling, La, Falgout Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

White
Leola Mae White on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at River Region Hospice, River Ridge, La. Daughter of the late Pearl Williams and Cleveland White, Sr. Mother of Brent (Karen) White. Sister of Harold G. White (Anita), Morris White, Wilbert White (Julia), Rosalind Johnson, Ethel Cross, the late Lois Gibbs and Cleveland White, Jr. Sister in law of Theresa White. Also survived by two grandchildren, Sharday Renea and Tevin E. White, Godchild Marvin Sandolph, aunt, Carrie Sandolph, a dedicated nephew, Donnie White, niece in law, Carol White and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Age 75 years. A native and resident of Paradis, La. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of First Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service at First Baptist Church, 14571 Old Spanish Trail, Paradis, La on Thursday, May 4, 2006 at 11 a.m. Elder Albert M. Charles, Pastor, Officiating. Interment First Baptist Church Cemetery, Paradis, La. Visitation at the above named church from 10 a.m. until service time.
