Barbee

John Phillip Barbee III, age 47 of Foley, Ala., passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2007. He attended Louisiana State University and graduated from the University of New Orleans. He was the owner and operator of The Smoothie King in Foley, Ala. He is survived by his father – Phil (Rose) Barbee Jr., of Gretna; his mother – Doris Ann Barbee of Pontchoula; one sister – Janet Lynn Barbee of Des Allemands; and one niece – Savanna Barbee of Des Allemands. Mr. Barbee will be having a Memorial Service at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, La. on Friday, July 13 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Arrangements by Cason Funeral Service in Foley, Ala.

Candies

Murphy “T-Murf” M. Candies, Jr. on Sunday, July 15, 2007 in Luling. Beloved fiance of Kristen Vitrano. Son of Murphy Candies, Sr. and Kimberly Powell Candies. Grandson of Calvin and Sue Candies and Van and Micky Powell. Brother of Blade Candies, Kaine Candies, Zalen Candies, Candy Candies and Shadow Jacob. Newphew of Tonya Jacob and her husband Billy Jacob. Godfather of Brazzi Jacob. A native and resident of Paradis. Age 20 years. Relatives and friends of the family were invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Paradis on Wednesday, July 18 at 1 p.m. Interment Sunset Cemetery in Bayou Gauche. Visitation was from 9 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at the church. Falgout Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.

Hogan

Betty Melancon Hogan, on Monday, July 9, 2007 at 3:50 p.m. in Thibodaux. Beloved wife and Kenneth Hogan. Mother of Rhonda Cantrelle and her husband Shane, Michael Hogan and his wife Heather, Michelle Tate and her husband Stephan. Grandmother of Derek and Dustin Cantrelle, Christopher Tate, Taylor and Jourdyn Hogan. Daughter of the late Joseph and Leah Tardiff Melancon. Sister of the late Russell Melancon Sr. and Rose Melancon Warren. A native of Raceland and a resident of Paradis. Age 63 years. She was retired from the St. Charles Parish School System. Relative and friends of the family were invited to attend the funeral. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Paradis on Wednesday, July 11 at 11 a.m. Interment ws held at the St. Charles Cemetery in Luling. Visitation was from 9 a.m. until funeral time at the church. Falgout Funeral Homes in charge of arrangements.

Petit

Mauor (Gruinea) John Petit, age 76, retired maintenance superintendent for ADM Growmark and Farmers Exports Grain Elevators. He died of cancer at his home Sunday, July 15, 2007 at 4:15 p.m. Beloved husband for 57 years of Mae Matherne Petit. Father of Sonia Petit Guilliot. Grandfather of Phil Guilliot (Carrie) and Nicholas Guilliot. Great-great-grandfather of Kylah and Kamryn. Brother of Emma Petit Guglielmo (late Joe) and the late James and Paul Petit (Carly). Brother-in-law of Florence Petit, Harris (Sharon) Matherne Jr., Larry (Jeannie) Matherne and Curtis (and the late Mary Ann) Boudreaux. First cousin of Betty (Teddy) Orgeron. Son of the late James and Emma Friloux Petit. Son-in-law of Leontine Bourgeois Matherne and the late harris Matherne, Sr. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Instead of services, he opted to donate his body to science. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Sheppard

Alice Marie Sheppard, a loving and devoted wife, mother and friend passed away on Sunday, July 15 in Hamilton, Canada after a tragic accident. She was born December 9, 1949 in St. Charles Parish, Louisiana. She lead an active life and was retired from the prestigious law firm of Haynes, Lewis, Stevens and Boone as a corporate attorney specializing in business law. An honor graduate from Tulane University in 1970 before marrying Jack Sheppard on July 2, 1972. Alice is preceded in death by her husband Jack, mother Beulah Sheppard and father Edward Sheppard. Alice is survived by her children: daughters – Elizabeth Monroe, Stacy Macomb; sons – Edward Sheppard, Steven Sheppard, Matt Sheppard, Mark Sheppard and his Carey. A private memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 19 at a family residence in San Antonio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Children Shelter, 2939 West Woodlawn, San Antonio, Texas 78228.

Voros

Elizabeth “Beth” A. Voros, age 67, on July 14, 2007 at 4 a.m. Resident of Luling and a native of McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on July 19 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Luling. Burial is set for a later date. Survived by her husband Robert “Bob” Voros, Sr. Mother of her Robert “Rob” J. Voros, Jr. and wife Emily, and daughters Susan “Sue” Candies and husband Jerry, and Sandra “Sandy” Johnson and husband Jeff. Sister of Noreen Danter and Andres Erskine, Jr. Daughter of Mary R. Way and Andrew Erskine, Sr. Aunt to Drew, Jack, Belinda, Sharon, Laurie, Andrea and Daisy. Her best friend of 29 years and neighbor was Lucie Vegas.` In lieu of flowers, please send plants or make donations to the American Cancer Society.
