Mabel Faucheux Matherne, 81, a native of St. Rose and a resident of Destrehan for 54 years, entered into her eternal rest on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Canon Hospice.
She was the beloved mother of Sharon Matherne (Barry Sr.), Lawrence “Larry Joe” Matherne Jr. (Rhonda), Donna Vicknair, and Terry Mascarella (Wayne); grandmother of Barry Matherne Jr., Anne Matherne, Olivia Burnham, Connie Dean, Lori Graff, Lawrence (Larry) Matherne III, Lynn Matherne, Julie Favalora, Amy Durocher, Jill Vicknair, Anthony (Tony) and Cory Mascarella. She had 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, close friends and caregivers.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lawrence Matherne Sr., her parents, Maitland J. and Olivia Troxler Faucheux, brother, Alvin Faucheux and grandson, Joseph Vicknair.
Visitation was held on April 29 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan with Mass of Christian Burial following. Entombment took place at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Kidney Foundation of Louisiana, 8200 Hampton St., New Orleans, LA 70018, or the American Cancer Society, 10528 Kentshire Ct., Baton Rouge, LA 70810. Arrangements were handled by H.C. Alexander Funeral Home.
