Raymond Keith Ledoux

Raymond Keith Ledoux, 85, passed away peacefully on March 3 at 1:25 AM at his home in Hahnville after a lengthy battle with dementia. Ledoux was born in Eunice on April 5, 1931 to the late Ewell J. and Isabelle Derosier Ledoux.

He was the beloved husband of Nathalie Rozas of Chatagnier for the past 62 years; loving father of Marie Denise Arnold (Kenneth), Julianne (Julie) Austin, Ann Rene’ Ledoux, and Andre’ Ledoux (Jan); devoted grandfather to:  Franchesca B. Lorio (Jeffrey), Wayne J. Arnold (Jessica), Laura E Carlos (Lance Walker), Celeste E. Austin, and Vanson Ma and step grandfather to: Rachel M. Arnold, Kenneth M Arnold Jr (Ashley), and Adele Labat along with five great grandchildren, as well as a sister, Barbara L. Rion (Kenneth) of Lake Charles, and a host of loved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ledoux is preceded in death by his brothers, Walter L of Lake Charles, Clarence E (Glenna) of Baton Rouge, John Michael (Louise) of Ozona, Texas, an infant son, an infant grandson (Boudreaux), and granddaughter (Cherie E Austin).

He was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2409 and the American Legion.

Ledoux served in the U.S. Air Force from Nov. 30, 1948 and honorably discharged on Sept. 12, 1952 as a staff sergeant. During this time, he was asked to serve in Korea as an ammunitions truck driver for the U.S. Army.  He met Nathalie “Nat” when they both worked at the Opelousas Courthouse, married and moved his growing young family to St. Charles Parish to work at American Cyanamid in Waggeman and, ultimately, retired as owner of Velvet Marine Towing. In between, having a passion and love of work, where he saw a need, he set things into action having started several successful businesses to meet the needs of the people and businesses of St. Charles Parish.

A memorial service was held at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville on March 10 with visitation and mass at the church.
