Joseph Charles “Chuck” Oubre, III

Joseph Charles “Chuck” Oubre, III died peacefully surrounded by family on July 16, 2022 at the age of 62.  He was born on January 31, 1960 to his parents Charles J. Oubre, Jr. (deceased) and Carol T. Oubre and was a lifelong resident of Hahnville, LA.

He is survived by brothers, Cody (Suzette), Conley (Rita), Chet (Chrissy), and sister, Cara. He was a beloved uncle to his nieces, Megan, Alexis, Jillian, and nephew, Peyton, as well as several great-nieces and nephews.

Charles graduated from Hahnville High School in 1978 and Louisiana State University in 1982 with a degree in Finance.  He worked for the St. Charles Parish Finance Department retiring in 2020 after 37 years.

Although Charles had many medical issues he never let it stop him from living his life to the fullest. He was a two time organ transplant recipient.  He enjoyed the camaraderie with other organ transplant recipients as a member of Team Louisiana who participated in the Transplant Games of America. He enjoyed Mardi Gras and rode with the “Krewe of HBA” in the Krewe of Lul for over 25 years.  He served on the Krewe of Lul Committee for years and worked tirelessly to make the parade a yearly success. Charles was an avid sports and horseracing fan.  He loved attending sporting events, especially LSU and New Orleans Saints football games.  He spent many days at the New Orleans Fairgrounds betting on the ponies and was able to fulfill a dream of attending the Kentucky Derby in May of this year.

Charles was a selfless and giving person of his time to numerous community organizations. He was a dedicated supporter to his Alma Mater, Hahnville High School, serving as statistician for both the Tigers’ football and baseball teams for over 20 years.  He especially enjoyed his time spent working with baseball players on the high school and American Legion Post 131 baseball teams.

Charles was a devout Catholic and was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Hahnville, LA.  He served his church as a member of the finance committee and as a Eucharistic Minister.  He was a dedicated member and supporter of the Knights of Columbus Council #2409.  He served as financial secretary for numerous years and was named Knight of the Year in June of this year at the Council’s 100 year celebration banquet.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Hahnville, LA. Visitation will be held from 9AM – 11AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11AM. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary cemetery in Taft, LA.

  1. Chuck was a major part of the success we had in HHS football from my time at the school. He will surely be missed by everyone in St. Charles Parish. While I’m unable to make the service, I will make a donation in Chuck’s name to Ocshner.
