Janet Amedee Oubre

Janet Amedee Oubre died April 22, 2023 at the age of 79.  She was born August 16, 1943 and was a long time resident of Hahnville, LA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Whitney Amedee and Virginia Turbin Amedee, her loving husband of nearly 58 years, Roland Oubre, and her brother William “Billy” Amedee.

She is survived by children, Brian Oubre (Vinca), Julie Gaubert (Roth), Lauren Bosco (Ricky), and Brad Oubre (Evelyn) and grandchildren, Roth, Jr., Colin (Heather), Evan, Jonathan, Daniel, Stephanie, Leah, Jason, Marc, Vanessa, Andrew, and Marissa.  She is also survived by her siblings, Kathy Wright and David Amedee (Katherine), brother-in-law, Bernard Oubre (Linda), and sister-in-law, Carol Oubre.

Janet was a 1961 graduate of Hahnville High School and retired from the St. Charles Parish Registrar of Voters office.  She was a devout Catholic, a parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, and a recipient of the Order of St. Louis Medallion.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, friend, and caregiver to many family members and friends.

The family would like to sincerely thank all the visitors and those that assisted in her care.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville, LA. Visitation will be held from 9 AM – 11 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 AM with Father Paul Clark as celebrant and Father Bernard Francis as co-celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft, LA.

In lieu of flowers, please consider Masses in Janet’s name or a donation to the Holy Cross Sisters, 1400 O’Day St, Merrill, WI 54452 where two of her dear friends reside.
