Horace Peter Ledet, Jr

Horace Peter Ledet, Jr., 79, a resident of Des Allemands, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022.

Visitation will be held at First Assembly of God, in Des Allemands, on Tuesday, October 4th from 9 am until service time. A funeral service will be celebrated at 11 am with burial in Sunset Cemetery to follow.

Horace is survived by his wife, Minnie Ellis Ledet; sons, Duane Anthony Ledet (Gina) and Danny Anthony Ledet (Veronica); grandchildren, Chase Anthony Ledet, Kimberly Estelle Ledet (Dustin); great-grandson, Dean Anthony Delatte; sisters, Catherine Bergeron Spahr, Grace Ledet Williams, Melinda Ledet Gallardo; lifelong friend and pigeon racing buddy, Sonny Hock as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace P. Ledet Sr. and Hazel Domangue Ledet and brother, Farrell Ray Ledet Sr.

Horace resided in Bayou Gauche for 27 years and retired from Avondale Shipyard after 36 years of service. He loved to ride motorcycles, race pigeons, fish and hunt with his sons. He served in the Navy from 1960-1964. He was an artist and all the paintings he created were given away to friends and family, he never tried to make a profit on any painting. When Horace was a young man before he had children of his own, he would donate his time coaching baseball to local kids. Horace was always willing to help people in need without asking or expecting anything in return. One of the last things that gave him joy, was seeing his great-grandson. December 26th would have been his 60th wedding anniversary to Minnie, whom he met in 6th grade.
