Gail Ann Young Smith was born November 17, 1946 and passed away December 5, 2020 at the age of 74. She is survived by her children Tracy J. Smith (Paula Mire), Troy M. Smith (Kelly), and Todd A. Smith (Osiris Jeffries). Grandchildren, Braden, Taylor, and Joseph Smith, and one great grandchild, Gavin Smith. She is also survived by her brothers, William young, Jr (Pam), Ray Young (Debbie), David Young (Robin), and James young (Ruby), and her longtime partner, David Gelpi.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William F. Young, Sr. and Rena Joyce Bouvier Young.
Gail was born in New Orleans and was a long-time resident of Destrehan. She was a loving mom, grandmother and great grandmother who was beloved by her family and friends and enjoyed spending time often with her family. She was an amazing gardener and especially liked spring when all the lilies and azaleas were in bloom. She often volunteered her time at Destrehan Plantation, most recently decorating the house for Christmas. She retired from Harrah’s Casino; was the vice president of the Ormond Place Condominium Association, and a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan, LA.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Rd. Destrehan, LA, on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at 11:30 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM. Inurnment to follow in the church cemetery. Due to the current government order, masks are required to attend services.
