David Nolan Bishop

David Nolan Bishop, born January 14, 1940, passed away September 19, 2018 at the age of 78. He was born in Memphis, TN and raised in Sardis, MS. He has been a resident of Destrehan, LA for 19 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Lois Baudouin Bishop, and two daughters, Julie Bishop Malouse (Mark) and Dr. Anne Marie Bishop Bryan (Bill). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Caroline Nicole Malouse, Robert Allen Malouse, Elizabeth Anne Bryan, and Sarah Margaret Bryan, and one sister, Sara Bishop Dennison, as well as a host of family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Allen Bishop and Sara Frances Gammon Marett.

David graduated from Mississippi State University with his Masters in Electrical Engineering and served in the U.S. Army, both active duty and the National Guard. He retired from Chevron after 35 years as an Electrical Engineer, his last title was Senior Engineering Consultant. He was a member of ISA from 1971 until 2018 and served as International Society President 1991-1992. He was awarded Mississippi State Engineering Alumnus of the year in 1990 and served on the MSU Engineering Advisory Board. During his professional career he logged 12,000 student hours teaching electrical installations in hazardous locations.

He was an avid fan of the MSU Bulldogs. He had passion for researching genealogy, and loved talking to people about their family histories. David was a problem solver who gave his all to any project he encountered. As one of the many young professionals he mentored said, “He was a great inspiration and role model to me and many many others.”

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, LA, on Saturday, September 22, 2018 beginning at 12 PM. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel at 1PM. Burial to follow at St. Charles Borromeo Destrehan, LA.
