Mittie S. Cortez, 88, a native of Bayou Sale and a resident of Paradis, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 29.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Jan. 2 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Paradis. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with burial following in St. Charles Cemetery in Luling.
She is survived by husband, Murphy Cortez; daughters, Bonnie Benoit, Susie Candies, Melinda Fahrig, Linda Ayo and Rachel Molinere; 18 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, Wallace Stevens Sr. and Cecile Moore Stevens; brothers, Arnold Stevens, Wallace Stevens Jr.; sisters, Wilamina Broussard, Helen Stevens, Emily Breaux, Faye Brunner, Ella Boudreaux; two grandchildren and one great- grandchild.
Falgout Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.
