Johnny Champagne

Johnny Champagne, 85, a native and resident of Luling, was called to Heaven on Aug. 2, 2017, surrounded by his family.

Johnny served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sylvia Perret Champagne; son Johnny Champagne Jr. (Penny); daughter, Patti Laque (Albert “Bert” Jr.); his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, Johnny “Jake” Champagne III (Heather), Grant Champagne (Erin), Amanda Laque Burke (Ryan), Kristen Laque Picard (Mikey), Jared Laque; and  especially enjoyed the recent gift of two great grandsons, Beckham Champagne and Michael Picard III; also survived by brothers, Jerry Sr., Horace Jr., Charles Sr., Ronald, David Sr., Anthony Sr., Thomas, Wayne “Catfish” Champagne and sisters, Pearl Laurent and Bessie Champagne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Sr. and Mary Ford Champagne, and brothers, Harold Sr., Morris and Alvin “Champ” Champagne.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 7 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Paradis followed by burial in St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.

Falgout Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
