Angelo “Buster” Puglise

Angelo “Buster” Puglise, 89, a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Luling, LA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 17, 2021.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 9:00 am to a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church in Luling, LA followed by burial in St. Charles Cemetery.

He is survived by his beloved wife (most of the time) of 68 years, Joyce Griffin Puglise; brother, Joe (Mary) of Mesa, Arizona; children, Anthony (Tony) and Pati (Medina Tregre); his grandchildren, Rebecca Medina, Michael (Amanda) Tregre, and Captain Brandi Tregre (his favorite); and his three great-grandchildren, Abigail, Emma, and Aubrey (his real favorites – don’t tell Brandi); and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Josephine (Blanda) Puglise; his sisters, Elizabeth and Jackie; brothers, John and Sam; and grandson, Christopher.

Partnered with his brother, Buster started P & L Hauling Company in 1955 and grew it into a successful business serving a growing St. Charles Parish. Expanding the business, the company began cleaning up natural disasters throughout the country before his retirement at the age of 53. Not being able to sit home (or maybe because he thought they didn’t know what they were doing), he joined his wife and daughter at Dat’sa My Cookies Bakery before retiring again in 2003.

He loved to travel, loved to gamble (Boomtown lost one of its biggest donors), gave more than he received and listened more than he talked. His family always came first. He not only gave financially, but he also gave his time whenever he saw a need. He never knew how to say “no” to anyone (unless they asked him for his King Cake recipe). He will be missed by all that have been lucky enough to have known him.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ochsner St. Charles Hospital for the constant care and support that they provided not only to Buster but to the entire family.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma (West Park) in Gray, LA is in charge of the arrangements.
