Alice Cavalier Garcia

Alice Cavalier Garcia, 88, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.  Alice and her husband Jimmy were active members of First Baptist Church of Luling, LA for many years before moving to Shirley, AR.  Once there they joined Shirley First Baptist Church, later known as Settlement Baptist Church, where Alice attended until her health no longer allowed her to do so.  She was an exceptional gardener and seamstress, spending countless hours sewing “flour sack” style dresses for underprivileged girls and preemie baby quilts for the hospital.

Alice was preceded in death by her father Francois Pierre Cavalier; mother, Euranie Enolia Rodrigue; brothers, Herbert Cavalier, Dave Cavalier, Ulysse Cavallier, Frank Cavallier, Sterling Cavalier, and Ivy Cavalier; sisters, Una Breaux, Irene Aucoin, and Isabel Lunk; husband, James Thomas Garcia, Sr.; and sons, George Edward Garcia, Charles Joseph Garcia, and James Thomas Garcia, Jr.

Alice is survived by her brothers, Albert Cavalier and Alvin Cavalier (Gail); her children, Bobbi Arceneaux, Frank Patrick Garcia, Sr., and Jenny Garcia Bacon (Jim); and grandchildren, Dusti Douglass, Kristopher Douglass, Amber Douglass, Luke Garcia, Beau Garcia, Shane Hancock, Rebecca Garcia, Frank Garcia Jr, Nathaniel Thomas, Sarah Cart, and James Thomas.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Home Health Hospice in Clinton, AR and to Alabama Hospice of the Shoals for the compassionate care provided throughout her illness.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 16, 2021 at 11:00 am at St. Gertrude Cemetery located at 339 Down the Bayou Road, Des Allemands, LA with Dr. Gerald Stephens, First Baptist Church of Luling officiating.
