Woman, charged with stabbing husband, pepper sprayed by deputy

A Boutte woman was arrested and charged with aggravated battery after she stabbed her ex-husband in the chest with an ink pen and struck him several times, official reports said.

Debra Lumar, 49 of 1832 Paul Maillard Road in Boutte was picked up and arrested at the Southern Inn, after her ex-husband identified her as the attacker.

According to official reports, once inside the patrol car, Lumar began smashing her head into the “cage,” and side window nearly causing the glass to break.

The deputy was forced to spray Lumar in the face with pepper spray to subdue her.

Upon arrival at the jail, Lumar stepped out of the vehicle and a female deputy discovered a crack-cocaine pipe in the seat of the patrol vehicle, where she was sitting.

Lumar has been charged with aggravated battery, resisting an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
