Wal-Mart Health fair FOR WOMEN ONLY

Wal-Mart Supercenter will be hosting its Fourth Annual Women’s Health Fair Saturday, June 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“I think this is an outstanding opportunity for women in the community to come together and get information on health and wellness,” Lisa Marie Veal, assistant store manager, told the Herald-Guide.

“Wal-Mart has been a proud sponsor of the National Women’s Health Foundation since 2001,” she continued.

“We’re proud to continue our association with the program as and extend our mission to educate women how to make informed decisions about their health, well-being, and personal safety, through our upcoming event.”

Community professionals that will have booths set up at the health fair:

St. Charles Community Health Center; Multiple Sclerosis Society; Crime Stoppers; Delgado Community College; Wal-Mart Smart Styles; Wal-Mart Vision Center; St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office; St. Charles Parish Fire Department Hahnville Station; Metropolitan Center for Battered Women and Children; Boys and Girls Club of America; Cardio Club Fitness Center; and the St Charles Parish Hospital.

Veal said some of the services offered by the various sponsors will include vision screening, blood and glucose screening, mammography information, healthy cooking demonstration, self defense instructions, cardiopulmonary resuscitation information, early child care information, mental health information, power walk and fitness workout demonstrations, fire safety demonstrations, with various other health related activities.
