Valero official faces child porn charges

The director of human resources and public affairs for Valero St. Charles Refinery was arrested after authorities say they discovered child pornography on his home computer during an undercover investigation.

James Ronald Guillory, 57, of 205 Lac Cypriere Drive in Luling, was booked with eight counts of pornography involving juveniles and three counts of obstruction of justice. He is being held without bond.

According to Sheriff Greg Champagne, investigators determined that Guillory allegedly downloaded and shared child pornography off of his computer between January and March. On May 16, officers executed a search warrant at Guillory’s home and seized two desktop computers and one laptop computer, which all belonged to Guillory.

While obtaining information for the search warrant of Guillory’s home, Champagne said that Guillory saw investigators and asked them why they were outside. That same day, Guillory attempted to use a program on his computers called Evidence Eliminator, which is designed to destroy or eliminate evidence from a computer’s hard drive, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office. A forensic examination of the computers was conducted and known images of child pornography were found on Guillory’s laptop, according to the police report.

Guillory, who was active in the community, was a volunteer campaign leader for the United Way of St. Charles. However, he has not been involved with the organization for at least five years, according to John Dias, United Way of St. Charles executive director.
