There’s a lot to like about this year’s catch of Catfish Queens

The Louisiana Catfish Festival Queens were chosen June 9, 2007 during the annual pageant held at J.B. Martin in Paradis.

This year’s pageant theme was a salute to St. Charles Parish and its bicentennial year.

Contestants were chosen based on scores from an interview, sportswear, and an evening gown competition.

Amanda Renee Dempster, 18, was named La. Catfish Queen XXXII. She is the daughter of Kurt and Lydia of Luling.
Dempster will attend Nicholls State University and plans to become a physical therapist.

Lacey Lynn Picou, 17, was named La. Catfish Teen Queen XII. Picou is the daughter of Butch and Jeanne of Raceland and Tessa and Darrin Dupre of Pierre Part.

Picou will be attend Nicholls State University majoring in nursing.

Dempster and Picou will meet and greet the public at the annual  Louisiana Catfish Festival at St. Gertrude Church on July 13, 14, and 15, in Des Allemands.

La. Catfish Jr. Queen XXV  is  Marissa Marie Landry, 11, of Luling.  Landry is the daughter of Dirk and Laura Landry.
The 2007 Granny Catfish II is Clarabell Dufrene of Des Allemands. Other pageant winners include:

In the Miss Division: Jenna Faul – 1st runner-up, People’s Choice and Miss Congeniality. In the Teen Division:  Susan Naquin – 3rd runner up. Leighanne Williams – 1st runner up and Miss Congeniality Jaclyn Sutton- 2nd runner up and photogenic.
