Teens charged with vandalizing Ormond Park

Two juveniles are accused of causing $3,500 in damage at Ormond Park.

According to St. Charles Parish spokeswoman Renee Simpson, vandals damaged the new concession stand, baseball field, viewing area and restrooms last Saturday. St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne said two people were arrested in connection with the crime, but their names were not released due to their ages.

The two suspects are 14 and 15.

They were arrested after posts on social media led to their identity, according to Capt. Pat Yoes, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.

The Ormond park recently underwent a $925,200 renovation that includes a splash park, redesigned baseball/softball fields, upgraded playground equipment, new pavilions and a walking path around the park.
