Still time to purchase memorial bricks for monument

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office has begun construction on a Fallen Hero Memorial that will be placed in front of the new law enforcement complex, but still needs residents to purchase memorial bricks to surround the area.

“Right now, we have sold about two thirds of the bricks needed and construction is underway,” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Pat Yoes said. “These bricks would make a wonderful last-minute Christmas gift.”

The bricks, which can be purchased in different sizes, can include text or even logos depending on how much is spent. They range in price from $100 to $1,000.

“Anyone from the community can purchase bricks so that they can be honored along with our heroes,” Yoes said.

The bricks will make up a walkway to and around the memorial, which will be placed in front of the new Sheriff’s Office complex. The memorial will honor the three parish law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, including Sheriff Lewis Ory, Deputy James Alan Arterbury, and Deputy Nelson Coleman.
