Stay informed throughout the storm

Did you know that some businesses and residents never lost power during Gustav?

Our internet viewers knew this because they logged on to the St. Charles Herald-Guide Web site, which kept residents informed with up-to-date information throughout the evacuation.

“I talked to public officials during the hurricane and constantly checked with the parish to keep updated information on our Web site,” Guide Editor Jonathan Menard said.

Even if Hurricane Ike heads towards the parish, the site will be updated continually throughout the storm and will not go down because the server is located out-of-state.

Renee Allemand, the parish’s public information officer, was a big help to many by keeping an updated blog on the government’s Web site. Using information from that site, and with help from several residents in the parish, the Guide was able to publish vital information as it became available.

If Ike does head this way, send an email to editor@heraldguide.com to get information published on the Guide’s Web site.
