The Play Station, an indoor play area designed for children 10 years and under, will open in May at 13322 Highway 90.

Owner Cassandra Toumba said the business will focus on family fun and healthy play.

“Being born and raised in St. Charles Parish, the same kids we started kindergarten with were the same kids we graduated high school with,” Toumba said. “This created a kind of hometown family vibe that I’ve always loved and I’m excited to bring something like this to St. Charles Parish, where we can cater to our younger babies while enjoying the safety and security of being here at home.”

The Play Station will promote a soft play environment with designated play spaces and age-appropriate equipment, Toumba said.

“This helps us to prioritize safety and reduce the risk of accidents and injuries during playtime,” she said.

The Play Station will include free Wi-Fi, bathrooms with changing areas for babies and toddler and a selection of healthy snacks and drinks for children and parents. Toumba said each staff member will receive training in child safety, basic first aid, customer service and safe operation of all equipment.

Parents can also choose different party packages for birthdays and other events. The packages will include private party rooms with games, TVs and private play time for the birthday child and their guests.

She said the play area will include easy access for parents to play with their children or to view them from a comfortable distance.

“We have tried to incorporate a mix of activities including creative expression play, imaginative play and sensory stimulation using different colors and textures,” Toumba said. “We encourage healthy expressions of play, including climbing, jumping, crawling or even sitting just to read a book.”
