St. Charles hospital, CFO parting ways

A second top executive with St. Charles Parish Hospital has announced he will move on to another job.

Chief Financial Officer Chris Olsen recently turned in his notice to the Hospital Board, announcing he accepted a job with another hospital in Texas outside of the Ochsner Health System, Hospital Board President John Landry III said Thursday.

Olsen will leave his position in June.

The CFO’s announcement comes three weeks after Ochsner System confirmed hospital CEO Anthony DiGeralamo will take another position with the same title at Ochsner Medical Center – West Bank in Gretna.

DiGeralamo will assume this position as soon as his replacement is named, according to Landry. His job change comes only nine months after he was named head of St. Charles Parish Hospital

“Our main focus right now is to get a CEO,” said Landry, noting interviews are underway. He added the new CEO will help hire the new CFO.

Landry said efforts also are underway to hire a family doctor for Plantation View Medical Offices in Destrehan.Olsen, named hospital CFO a few months before DiGeralamo’s arrival, held the position a little over a year.

Michael Hulefeld, Ochsner’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, praised Olsen’s five years of service with the Ochsner system.

“Chris has been an instrumental leader in St. Charles Parish Hospital’s strong financial growth and business development strategies since our management agreement in 2014, he said.Hulefeld added Ochsner and the hospital board “are working together on the leadership transition and expect to announce new leadership plans in the next two weeks. In the interim, our broad system finance team will ensure that STCH maintains a solid, strategic financial course.”
