Sheriff’s Office employee charged with video voyeurism

The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office has charged one of its own with one count each of felony video voyeurism and obstruction of justice.

Sheriff Greg Champagne reported the arrest of Cpl. Ryan Weaver with the Patrol Division.

Weaver, 42, has been with the Sheriff’s Office for about four years.

“Only extended family members of Weaver are involved in this incident,” according to Champagne.

On May 23, the Sheriff’s Office received information about this incident, which allegedly had occurred on May 17 and began an investigation immediately, he said.

“Weaver was placed on suspension pending the outcome of the investigation,” Champagne said. “After our detectives obtained an arrest warrant from Judge Timothy Marcel this morning, Weaver was terminated.”

Bond will be set after Weaver appears in front of the judge at his 72- hour hearing.

The release sent by the Sheriff’s Office did not contain specific information on what lent to the voyeurism and obstruction charges. We reached out to the Sheriff’s Office for more information and will update this story as soon as it becomes available.
