Rain doesn’t dampen Relay For Life

Relay For Life went on despite the Saturday night downpour and $83,248 was raised at the event, according to chairman Audrey Raziano.

“Things were going extremely well before the rain came down and one thing that impressed me was all of the young kids that participated this year,” she said. “We tried to fit in a lot of our activities before the rain started, but even after it began to fall people stayed around.”

In fact, Raziano said she was amazed at how many people stayed for the Luminaria Celebration, which honors those lost to cancer and those who survived the disease.

“To see so many people standing there with their umbrellas and trying to keep their candles lit was just awesome,” she said.
