Police: Teen tries to kill neighbor by setting house on fire

Allegedly broke windows then threw lit items into home

A former Destrehan High School student was arrested on Sept. 1 and charged with attempted first degree murder.

Aaron Adams, 19, of 228 Terrace St. in New Sarpy, was arrested after allegedly breaking several windows in a New Sarpy residence, lighting objects on fire and throwing them through the broken windows.

Captain Pat Yoes, with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, said he does not know what Adams’ motive was.
Adams graduated from DHS in May of this year.

Yoes said that someone broke the windows at the victim’s residence on Aug. 30 and then on Sept. 1 the victim witnessed Adams throwing lit items into the windows. The victim then called the police.

Yoes said there was no damage to the house and no one was injured.

Adams is being held at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center on a $100,000 bond.
