Police search for suspicious driver in Destrehan

Boy says man touched him inappropriately

Police are searching for a man who allegedly followed a 12-year-old boy and a teenager in Destrehan and inappropriately touched one of them while wrestling.

On Tuesday evening, the two boys said they were approached by a black male driving a white van near the Cash-N-Carry on the corner of River Road and Amelia Street in Destrehan. The boys told police that they had seen the man driving his van through the subdivision earlier.

“The boys said the man began asking them questions and talking about sports. The conversation eventually turned to wrestling,” Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said. “The man got out of the van and began showing wrestling moves to one of the boys. That’s when the boy said he was touched inappropriately.”
The boys left and went to a nearby friend’s home where they called the police.

The driver was described as a black male in his 40s with a medium build and short hair. Sheriff Greg Champagne said the man was wearing a burgundy shirt with a Minnesota Vikings hat and blue work pants.

The van was described as an older-model white van with damage to the left front fender and door. It was also reported to have red and blue lettering of some type.

If anyone has any information concerning this incident or the driver of the van, they are asked to call 911.
