With shops already located in Algiers, Gonzales, Houma and New Orleans, a trio of PJ’s Coffee franchisees now have their sights set on Luling.
Andrew Jones, along with business associates Teddy Amar and Mateusz Dabrowski, will open a franchise of the popular coffee chain on the west bank of St. Charles Parish early next year.
“The small town community feeling of Luling was the driving force of us wanting to be down in that area, and the fact that we have roots here makes it even sweeter,” Jones said.
Jones said both he and his wife grew up in Luling, and the couple recently purchased their own home in the parish.
“We’ve been in in the Luling market for a while now, and a piece of property came up that fit our needs,” Jones said of he and his business associates. “We closed on it last week.”
The Luling store, to be located on the corner of Highway 90 and Mimosa Avenue, will have marked physical differences from many other PJ’s Coffee franchises.
“We’re really excited,” Jones said. “We’re rolling out a new prototype – a stand-alone building. It’ll be very similar to the way Starbucks builds a small stand-alone set up for drive-through, but with some dine-in options available as well. It will be the only building on the property.”
Jones said the coffee shop will employ up to 15 people when it opens, and he is excited to see the community already rally behind the new business.
With the land sale finalized, all eyes are now on building.
“Construction is crazy,” Jones said. “It’s so variable. We’re hoping to be open in February 2021.”
