Pedestrian killed in Boutte accident

An automobile accident in Boutte Wednesday (Jan. 13) night claimed the life of an unidentified pedestrian.

The incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 90 west near Tiger Dr.

According to a Louisiana State Police Troop preliminary investigation, 19-year-old Chelsey Guidroz of Houma was driving a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck west on U.S. 90 in the right lane approaching Tiger Drive when the vehicle she was driving struck an unidentified pedestrian wearing dark clothing and walking west in the right lane of the highway.

According to State Police spokeswoman Melissa Matey, Guidroz observed the pedestrian and took evasive action, but struck the pedestrian who died on the scene.

Matey said speed and impairment are not considered factors in the incident.Guidroz voluntarily submitted to a breath test and no detectable alcohol was found.

An autopsy and toxicology will be performed on the pedestrian.

Matey said the pedestrian’s identity is pending the autopsy.
