Parish names new planning and zoning director

The St. Charles Parish Council has confirmed the hiring of a new Planning and Zoning Department director. The new director, Michael Albert, will take over for Kimberly Marousek, who resigned in July after accepting a job in Baton Rouge.

Marousek had been the parish’s Planning and Zoning director since Parish President V.J. St. Pierre first took office in 2008.

St. Pierre said that Albert has years of experience in the planning field and has spearheaded comprehensive plans, land use plans and zoning code updates for both large and small jurisdictions.

“I am confident we have found a candidate who will keep the need to create a quality living and working environment in St. Charles Parish paramount,” St. Pierre said.

Albert graduated from the University of Florida with a Master of Arts degree in urban and regional planning. He served as the county and town planner for Stokesdale, N.C.Albert was hired in April as community development director for St. Bernard Parish before taking a job with St. Charles.
