More than $32 million in state road projects are underway or will soon begin.
“Since 2008, the state Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has invested more than $7.4 billion in the state’s infrastructure. More than $119 million has been invested in St. Charles Parish during that time,” said Sherri H. LeBas, secretary of the DOTD. “This investment on projects such as the overlay and repair work on the Hale Boggs Memorial Bridge will make traveling safer, ease congestion and make the overall driving experience better for Louisiana travelers. These projects are needed to extend the life of our roadways and bridges and often lead to enhanced economic opportunities. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we make these improvements and would like to remind people to drive safely at all times, and be extra cautious in work zones.”
DOTD’s biggest local project at this time is the $25 million asphalt overlay and repair work on the Hale Boggs Memorial Bridge. Contractor CEC Inc. started work Sept. 9 and should be completed by summer of next year.
