St. Pierre organizes, changes structure
St. Charles Parish President V.J. St. Pierre may have restructured his administration, but he didn’t have to change his budget to accommodate the salaries he’s paying the new employees.
That’s because St. Pierre is paying those new employees slightly less than what the outgoing employees were making.
The workers that have been replaced with their salaries are as follows:
Tina Wright, WIA Local Area Coordinator-$47,500, replaces James Poole- $55,434.
Duane Foret, Parks and Recreations Director- $80,000, replaces Larry Matson- $87, 224.
Randy Roth, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation-$45,000, replaces Stacy Crovetto-$61,243.
Sam Scholle, Director of Public Works-$90,000, replaces Greg Bush, Director of Public Works – $100, 192.
Kimberly Marousek, Planning and Zoning Director-$74,460, replaces Mike Henderson-$77,352.
Maurya Glaude, Community Services Director- $55,000 replaces Robel Howard- $61,554.
In St. Pierre’s administration, parish employee issues and questions will be fielded through the four appointed department heads before they are brought to the parish president.
“I have four main people that will report directly to me,” St. Pierre said. “I’ve put an infrastructure in place where these four individuals will be the key person for different departments in the parish.”
“The way Mr. Laque had things set up, everyone would answer to him,” he said. “I will only discuss things with my four main appointed people; it will make things easier to follow.”
St. Pierre’s top four appointees are, his chief operating officer, director of finance, homeland security/emergency preparedness director and chief administrative officer.
John “Rusty” Walker, the chief operating officer, will oversee the public works/wastewater, waterworks and parks and recreation departments. Tim Vial, chief administrative officer, will supervise the personnel, community services, economic development and planning and zoning departments, as well as the Workforce Investment Act and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
Lorrie Toups, chief financial officer, will supervise the finance, purchasing and grants departments. Lastly, Tab Troxler, homeland security and emergency preparedness director, will supervise animal control, information technology and building maintenance.
Since last week, Troxler’s pay increased from $88,000 to $95,000.
Toups says there will be some amendments to shift some funding around due to the changes in the infrastructure.
“For example, the budget will have to be amended to reflect the changes in the new infrastructure,” she said. “Some departments have shifted and so those types of things will have to be taken into consideration,”
