NBC comedy shoots in Des Allemands

A brand-new comedy series recently filmed with Des Allemands as its backdrop.

Scenes for the first season of “Killing It,” a comedy that will be carried on the NBC streaming service Peacock, were filmed last week. The Des Allemands bridge was closed for one day to facilitate the filming, which was done by Northern Entertainment of Louisiana.

The project is led by Craig Robinson, who earned fame as a breakout star on the wildly popular NBC comedy “The Office” as Darryl Philbin and has also starred in films including Hot Tub Time Machine, Pineapple Express and This is the End. Robinson is credited as an actor, producer and writer of the series.

The show sees Robinson reteaming with Dan Goor and Like Del Tredici, former executive producers of Brooklyn Nine Nine, another popular comedy show Robinson starred for. The two wrote the script for the series.

In addition to Robinson, Killing It will feature Claudia O’Doherty, Rell Battle, Scott MacArthur, Stephanie Nogueras, Wyatt Walter, and Jet Miller.

The single-camera series will follow Craig (Robinson), a man who will do anything to become a success, even compete in a state-sponsored python hunt. Viewers will see 10 half-hour episodes, all of which filmed in the New Orleans area.

O’Doherty plays Jillian, a down-on-her-luck limo driver who introduces Craig to the world of snake-hunting. Battle plays Isaiah, Craig’s younger brother, whose interests may soon find him afoul of the law. MacArther’s character, Brock, is a rival snake hunter. Nogueras plays Camille, Craig’s ex-wife; Walter, Brock’s son; and Miller plays Vanessa, Craig’s daughter who wants absolutely nothing to do with hunting snakes.

An official premiere date for the series is still pending, but it is expected to debut later this year.

St. Charles Parish has been quite busy with filming projects of late. In November, scenes for the Will Smith action thriller Emancipation were shot in Destrehan.

Even more recently, another NBC-backed show has filmed in Destrehan as well, as the network’s “The Thing About Pam” has done ongoing work there over the past few months.
