Apparently living in vacant apartment nearby
A man is accused of attacking a Hahnville woman in her home while he was naked was arrested on Christmas Eve.
Joseph Mitt, 56, was arrested and charged with home invasion and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
The homeless man attacked a female victim in her Sunset Court home, according to St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Pat Yoes.
Yoes said Mitt apparently pinned the victim against a wall before others intervened, prompting Mitt to flee. Deputies found him about 100 yards from the scene and placed him under arrest.
Yoes said the victim knew who Mitt was prior to the attack and that he appeared to be staying in a vacant apartment nearby without property manager’s permission.
Mitt is being held in Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility on $20,000 bond.
His arraignment is scheduled Jan. 24.
