Arrested in FBI sting charged with felony theft, falsifying reports

A Metairie woman has been charged with felony theft of more than $51,830 from the Krewe of Pygmalion that lists its address as 10016 River Road, St. Rose.

Stephanie LeBlanc, 53, of Metairie was arrested Aug. 1 on the charge along with four counts of filing or maintaining false public records as a result of a joint investigation by Louisiana State Police and Louisiana Department of Revenue – Office of Charitable Gaming, according to Louisiana State Police.

On July 8, the Carnival Krewe of Pygmalion contacted investigators with concerns about discrepancies in the group’s bingo revenue profits based on banking records. An audit showed $51,000 in funds were allegedly taken and more than 100 discrepancies in account records.

The Krewe of Pygmalion could not be reached for comment.According to State Police, LeBlanc admitted to taking the cash and altering records from April 2015 to January 2016.LeBlanc was arrested and booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna.

The investigation is ongoing.
