Man sentenced to serve 15 years for pushing St. Rose woman out of moving car on interstate

A man who was accused of raping a woman in St. Rose and pushing her out of his vehicle on Interstate 10 in New Orleans in February of 2016 was recently sentenced to serve 15 years in prison.

Dave Turner, 42, was found guilty of attempted manslaughter and simple kidnapping by an Orleans Parish jury in July.

The victim told detectives that Turner was an acquaintance of hers and forced his way into her St. Rose residence at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 2, 2016, where he raped and choked her unconscious. According to Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro Jr.’s office, Turner then forced the woman into his SUV and drove her into New Orleans.

Once there, a struggle ensued between them in the vehicle and witnesses told police that Turner was seen punching the woman before throwing her out from his moving vehicle and out onto the interstate. The victim survived but suffered a fractured ankle, cuts and bruises.

Turner still faces trial in St. Charles Parish on pending charges of attempted first-degree murder and rape.
