Man charged with armed robbery in St. Rose

A St. Rose man was robbed at gunpoint by two people he had been chatting with in front of his home minutes earlier, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The victim, who lives in the Charlestown neighborhood, didn’t think anything was amiss on Dec. 19 when socializing with a pair of acquaintances. However, one of the men walked away only to return with a gun minutes later, according to Capt. Pat Yoes, Sheriff’s Office spokesman. The victim was then forced to give up all the cash he was carrying plus more money inside his home, Yoes said.

“The (perpetrator) fled the scene in a dark-colored Chevrolet Impala, headed to River Road and then eastbound. About 20 minutes later the victim flagged down a patrol deputy and reported the robbery,” Yoes said.

Yoes said the victim and another witness were able to identify the perpetrator.

“We were able to identify who they were and went out looking for them,” he said.

The gunman was identified as Raynell Wilson, 24, of Hahnville, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Both are currently imprisoned at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center.
