Luling medical clinic gets new name

Newly renamed the Family Doctors & Specialty Physicians, the Luling medical center’s name change also came with a new owner.

West Jefferson Medical Center acquired the clinic earlier this year from a group of physicians who were managing it, said Dr. R. Douglas Bostick Jr., pediatrician with the group.

The Family Doctors brand is a division of West Jefferson, which is an established primary care physician practice on the West Bank in Jefferson Parish.

The clinic sign bearing the new name also is now flanked by two logos representing the affiliation – that of West Jefferson Medical Center and LCMC Health.

“Even though we have a new name, everything else will stay the same,” Bostick said. “We’ve kept the same team of physicians and care you’ve come to know and trust, conveniently located in your community.”

The new name reflects the affiliation the clinic has with WJMC and the Family Doctors practice, as well as backing of LCMC, he said.

LCMC Health system also manages Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, Touro, New Orleans East Hospital and the new University Medical Center in New Orleans.

“It is a well known, successful primary care physician practice that’s been taking care of families for more than 25 years on the West Bank,” Bostick said of Family Doctors. There are six Family Doctors locations on the West Bank in Jefferson Parish, which includes 22 physicians and nine nurse practitioners. The location in St. Charles Parish is on Highway 90 in Luling between McDonald’s and Sonic.

Dr. Patrick S. Stumpf, an internist with Family Doctors in Luling, added, “West Jefferson is looking to grow its footprint in primary care and specialty services through Southeast Louisiana and are happy to be providing services in St. Charles Parish.”

West Jefferson was recently ranked in the top 5 percent in the nation for patient safety by Heathgrades, and also received an “A” Hospital Safety Score from the Leapfrog Group.
