Luling man charged with stalking teen

A 40-year-old Luling man has been charged with stalking after authorities say he repeatedly harassed a 16-year-old girl by making lewd comments to her at her workplace.

Courtney A. Thibodeaux, 40, of 1225 Louisiana 18 in Luling, was arrested last week and charged with stalking a victim under 18 and indecent behavior with a juvenile.

On several occasions, Thibodeaux showed up to the teen’s workplace and made inappropriate remarks to her, according to Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, a spokesman for the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

“Things began getting out of hand to the point where the girl started feeling uncomfortable in his presence. She had never seen the suspect and only had contact with him when he began coming to her workplace,” LaGrange said. “With the help of other employees, a manager was notified and he in turn contacted our office.”

LaGrange said that the girl and other employees were able to give a detailed description of both Thibodeaux and his vehicle and officers arrested him during a traffic stop in Boutte on Thursday at 10:17 p.m.

“The first time someone makes indecent remarks to them, a teen should contact someone they trust and notify authorities,” LaGrange said. “We are just thankful that this worked out because these incidents can spiral out of control quickly.”
