Local man charged with attemped murder

Victim rushed to hospital for emergency surgery

Rebun Vega, 31, Paradis, was arrested and charged with second degree attempted murder following an altercation with an unnamed adult male and his wife. The two men were involved in three separate altercations during the day on April 9. The third and final altercation turned ugly, as Vega allegedly stabbed the victim in an attempt to kill him.

Police officers responded to a call from neighbors claiming that the two men were fighting. Neighbors broke up the fighting men twice before officers were called to the scene.

Officers arrived to find the victim bleeding profusely from an apparent stab wound. When approached by police officers, Vega fled the scene but was later captured by deputies.

The victim was transported to St. Charles Hospital and doctors determined that he was in need of emergency surgery.

According the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, the victim was in serious condition upon arrival to the hospital.

Vega was later charged with second degree attempted murder and the subject remains in jail at this time.
