Kenner man accused of torching wife’s Luling house

A Kenner man is accused of setting fire to his wife’s Luling home after a dispute.

Bruce Laborde, 54, of 3241 Continental Drive in Kenner, was recently arrested and charged with simple arson, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Capt. Pat Yoes said Laborde was seen leaving his wife’s Second Street Luling home by his mother-in-law.

“(The mother-in-law) stopped and asked him where he was going. He said he was ‘getting the hell out of there,’” Yoes said. “She went inside to call her daughter … she saw smoke coming from the house soon after.”

Yoes said no one was in the residence at the time of the fire.

Laborde is being held at Nelson Coleman Correctional Center on a bond of $75,000 as of Wednesday.
