Pushy panhandlers are on the prowl in Ormond, but you can JUST SAY NO
With recent reports of an aggressive panhandler in the Ormond area, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office wants residents to stay calm if they come in contact with someone asking for money who won’t take no for an answer.
The Sheriff’s office received two separate reports on May 29 of a black male weighing approximately just over 200 pounds and standing about six feet tall. He was seen at two separate locations on Ormond Boulevard asking passers-by for money.
The first incident took place in the Winn-Dixie parking lot and the second took place at the Circle K convenience store. The suspect would allegedly demand money from store customers and would persist until the victims told the man the sheriff’s office was being called.
The suspect allegedly tried to verbally intimidate both victims before driving off in a brown or tan Chevrolet Impala of an unknown year, according to Sheriff’s Spokesman Capt. Pat Yoes.
Yoes said a panhandler has no legal right to harass anyone and must have proper permits to even ask for money in a public setting.
“The best thing to do if you come across a panhandler that won’t leave you alone is to call the sheriff’s office,” Yoes said.

LCAI, a partnership between LED and the Louisiana Community & Technical College System, offers small and emerging construction businesses critical information about construction management and how to prepare for the General Contractors State Licensing Exam.
This is the second time this year the course has been made available and includes new locations across the state.
