Gisclair will not seek another term as assessor

Parish Assessor Clyde “Rock” Gisclair, who has served in his post for more than 40 years, will retire at the end of his current term.

“You have elected me as assessor of St. Charles Parish 10 times and it has been an honor and a privilege to serve you,” Gisclair said in a statement. “I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to my family, my employees and my friends.”

Parish Councilman Terry Authement and Tab Troxler, the parish’s former Director of Emergency Preparedness, are both running for assessor. The election will be held on Oct. 22.
