Former councilman named Public Works director

Clayton Faucheux leaves Motiva to join parish

A longtime political figure in St. Charles Parish politics, Clayton “Snookie” Faucheux has been appointed head of the parish’s Department of Public Works.

“My path lead back to St. Charles Parish,” Faucheux said at Monday’s council meeting. “I feel proud to be afforded the opportunity and will dedicate myself 100 percent.”

Faucheux will take over the department in May. One of the parish’s largest departments, it has 209 employees Parish President Larry Cochran said current director Sam Scholly will continue working in the department solely on levees.

“Clayton will bring industry experience and leadership qualities to this role,” Cochran said. “With his council experience and past community involvement he will bring a unique understanding of parish government to Public Works.”

Faucheux’s experience includes upstream and downstream oil and gas, pipelines, supervision, occupational health, plant maintenance, industrial and workplace safety, instrumentation, process control and risk assessment, according to the parish.

Faucheux has worked for Motiva Enterprises at the Norco Refinery Complex since 1996. He started in operations moving to reliability specialist, environmental business area representative, environmental field tech and most recently OGI specialist.

He also served as councilman-at-large Division B for 2000 to 2008, and was re-elected to the position in 2012. He resigned in 2013.

A graduate of Hahnville High School, Faucheux attended Louisiana State University and the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He graduated from the University of Phoenix with a bachelor’s of science degree in business management and certification in project management. He attended the Texas A&M Total Quality Management Program and became certified in Supply Systems Management by the American Society of Quality Controls.
