A video of a fight in Killona Park that was uploaded to Facebook has resulted in the arrest of eight Killona residents.
The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office said the event occurred on March 13 and involved several girls fighting at the Killona Ball Field.
After those allegedly involved were identified through video evidence, warrants were issued for their arrest. The main actors in the fight appear to be two 15-year-old girls who were charged with two counts of disturbing the peace by fighting.
Capt. Pat Yoes, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said that the two girls were involved in an earlier incident at Hahnville High School before they met at the park and began a verbal altercation that escalated into a fight.
“During this verbal altercation, a fistic encounter occurred between the two. Four additional subjects joined in the fight,” Yoes said. “There were a total of five girls fighting in the ball park.”
Yoes said the incident was reported to the Sheriff’s Office by one of the girl’s mothers.
“The initial fight was reported by one of the juvenile’s mother when it occurred. Later, a mother of one of the juveniles found the video on Facebook and sent it to school administrators at HHS,” he said. “The school administrator gave it to the Sheriff’s Office. We do not know who took the video or posted it. It was only on Facebook briefly and was removed.”
Kori Hebert, 20, Deshante Scott, 18, Marvell Stewart, 41, and Renata Brown, 25, were also arrested and charged with disturbing the peace by fighting and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Brown and Stewart were charged with causing a disturbance at another location which led to another fight involving the 15-year-old girls.
“There were two incidents – one at the Killona Ball Park and a second at 194 Post Street,” Yoes said. “Brown and Stewart are related to one of the girls involved in the initial fight and went to that location to confront another juvenile involved, causing a disturbance and instigating a second fight.”
Deputies also arrested Quinn Johnson, 38, for interfering with a police investigation for allegedly alerting the occupants of a residence about the presence of sheriff’s deputies who were serving warrants in the community for those involved in the fight.
A 16-year-old female is also wanted in connection with the incident.
